Rolex GMT Master 1675 Pepsi MK5 Mexico 1980 CHF 19,500.00
ROLEX GMT Master 1675 Mark 5, Pepsi Bezel, Mexican Jubilee, Gift from Mexican President Jose Lopez Portillo to Lieutenant
Serial: 5886022
Circa: 1980
Reference: 1675

DIAL: Black matte dial with luminous hour markers and beveled date aperture at 3 o’clock. Mercedes hands including red color GMT hand indicating the second time zone.

CASE: 40mm, stainless steel with original faded red and blue rotating bezel and acrylic glass with loupe for date at 3 o’clock.
Engraving on the caseback dated 1980.

MOVEMENT: Caliber 1575, Self-winding mechanical movement with 26 jewels

BRACELET: Rolex Mexico stainless steel Jubilee (Hecho en Mexico)

CONDITION: Dial and hands are stunning with beautiful patina and original. Bezel is faded and stunning with wear, but no major visible scratches. Case is unpolished. The bracelet is worn and shows signs of stretch (as is common on these Mexican Jubilees), but still wears nicely.
Movement was fully overhauled in February 2025 and is running perfectly.
The caseback has an old dedication engraging in Spanish:
Al Tte Esequias Sanchez O
LIC Jose Lopez Portillo
16. VIII . 1980
which translates to:
To the Lieutenant Esequias Sanchez O
LIC (Licenciado is a Spanish title given to lawyer) Jose Lopez Portillo
August 16, 1980

NOTES: This watch was sourced from the Mexico, which matches up with the bracelet and caseback engraving.
The way the engraving is phrased, this was a gift from the former President to the Lieutenant. This engraving dates to the middle of his term and makes sense considering the time and his personal affinity for Rolex.
Jose Lopez Portillo was a Mexican writer, lawyer, and politician affiliated with the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) who served as the 58th president of Mexico from 1976 to 1982.
Total Price: CHF 19,500.00
