Vacheron Constantin launched its ultra-thin perpetual calendar, reference 43031 in 1983, following the lead of Audemars Piguet, having launched theirs in 1978. It had a distinct month subdial with 4 quadrants for leap year indication, something its predecessor from Audemars Piguet did not display until later when the leap year indicator hand was added by both companies.
In 1984, Vacheron Constantin launched the reference 43032, their first openwork (skeleton) ultra-thin perpetual calendar wristwatch. Approximately 350 pieces of the 43032 were made in yellow gold, of which, most had white registers and the rarer version had cream registers.
