Tudor Submariner*** 94010 MN77 Blue*** 1977
TUDOR Submariner Blue 'Snowflake', Ref. 94010, Marine Nationale (French Navy), Military Issued 1977
Serial: 903512
Circa: 1977
Reference: 94010

DIAL: Blue matte dial with square hour markers and triangular market at 12. Silver ‘snowflake’ hands.

CASE: 40mm, strainless steel case with blue rotating diver bezel. Glass in acrylic

MOVEMENT: ETA 2776, 25 jewels, automatic

BRACELET: Nylon NATO

CONDITION REPORT: The case appears unpolished and worn. The MN77 military engraving on the back is original and clearly visible. The dial is original and has stunning patina on the indexes. There are only slight little dots from aging on the dial, but overall excellent. The hands are also original and react correctly under the UV light with the exception of the seconds hand, which was at some point refilled. Overall, a stunning example of a rare military issued reference.

NOTES: This particular French Marine Nationale (Navy) issued Tudor Submariner does not appear in the register from Toulon (Pastre), however is in the same batch as 3 other numbers just below and above it. Meanwhile, there is a service mark from Paris inside and another that we don't recognise, but no service marks from Toulon, hence why it is not in those registers.

Tudor began being manufactured under Rolex in 1946. Early on, the French Navy equipped its divers (plongeurs de bord) with Tudor Submariners. The first Tudors were purchased by the M.N. (Marine Nationale) in the late 60's. This model seemed to meet army specifications for Commando Marines. The Tudor 'Snowflake' Submariner (non-date model; either 7016 or 9401/0) is characteristically unique versus its cousin: the Rolex 5513. With much of the same features and, of course, the same parent company. Both are icons in the vintage watch world and highly sought after by collectors around the world.
