NOTES:
Tudor began being manufactured under Rolex in 1946. Early on, the French Navy equipped its divers (plongeurs de bord) with Tudor Submariners. The first Tudors were purchased by the M.N. (Marine Nationale) in the late 60's. This model seemed to meet army specifications for Commando Marines. The Tudor 'Snowflake' Submariner (non-date model; either 7016 or 9401/0) is characteristically unique versus its cousin: the Rolex 5513. With much of the same features and, of course, the same parent company. Both are icons in the vintage watch world and highly sought after by collectors around the world.
It is a first series Snowflake configuration on the 7016 reference. These very first serial number, coming just after the reference change from 7928 to 7016 with the change in movement 390 to ETA 2483.
This transition in the 620k serial range saw first a black radial dial 623-624K and then the first Snowflake configuration 624-625K, cases were semi-pointy crown guard (spcg) and had 'swiss only' dials on the very first few delivered.
Ours is 1 number away from the example featured in the book Tudor Anthology.
