NOTES: The Rolex Air King history dates back to the 1930’s during World War II when the British RAF airforce pilots chose to wear Rolex watches due to their durability. Hans Wilsdorf, founder of Rolex, was so touched by this that he decided to pay homage to these brave men and the Air collection for Rolex began looking into different names and several were taken into consideration such as Air Tiger, Air Lion and Air Giant. The Air King was launched in the 1940’s and remains a fine example of how Rolex was part of world history over the 20th century.
