Denis Flageollet joined his French compatriots François-Paul Journe and Vianney Halter to launch THA (Techniques Horlogères Appliquées) in 1989. They created the company to be a platform for making their own watches, but ended up almost entirely developing movements for other brands like Breguet and Cartier. In 1998, while still at THA, Flageollet started designing some of the first timepieces for L. Leroy, a French watchmaking brand dating back to 1785 that had lied dormant for quite some time. Flageollet met and began collaborating with Italian entrepreneur David Zanetta, and they partnered founding De Bethune together in 2002 before L. Leroy was sold once more in 2004 to Festina . We can in fact see some of the inspiration of the case, hands and even some dial desi that led to the designs of the De Bethune cases that followed. L. Leroy laid dormant once again for the past 20 years and has emerged once again with a relaunch slated for production in 2024.
