NOTES: This example is only the 2nd example we've come across with this ultra rare 'officer case'.
The Jaeger LeCoultre Futurematic was launched in the early 1950's and the 'porthole' configuration (window display vs hand indication registers) is very rare. The Futurematic E501 (cal 497) & E502 (cal 817) was well ahead of its time, hence the appropriate model name, and features a power reserve indicator and the running seconds inside two seperate windows on each side of the dial. The seconds indicator on the right features an arrow on a rotating disk, while the power reserve on the left features a blue/red color disk which slides in alignment with the mainspring to indicate the power reserve.
