NOTES: The collaboration between IWC and Prosche Design led to innovation in the watch industry. In 1978, co-operation with designer F.A. Porsche results in the first wristwatch with a built-in compass and in 1980, IWC produced the world's first chronograph in a titanium case, designed by F. A. Porsche. IWC procures its expertise in the machining of titanium through an exchange of ideas with Aérospatiale and other leading technology specialists. This collaboration continued with unique designs and innovative materials through the 80s. The IWC 3701 was the second collaborative Porsche designed chronograph model, with its jet black matte case in aluminum for ultra-light comfort feel and the black delrin bracelet also achieves the black matte look and lightweight feel. This model is inspired by the very rare and highly sought after OCEAN 2000. This was a visionary design in the 1980s and remains an aesthetic treasure today.
