In order to promote its watchmaking heritage as a brand, Cartier decided to produce limited quantities of fine watches dubbed Collection Privé Cartier Paris and often simply called CPCP between 1998-2008. With a. series of high end movement collaborations, they did just that. Following this 10 year period, Cartier regained its image as a premier watchmaker, not just for being a jeweller, a position they have kept till today. These collections have become highly collectible today, especially the monopoussoir chronographs with the caliber 045 MC. The 045MC was produced for Cartier by THA (Techniques Horlogeres Appliquees), a movement workshop that was founded in 1996 by FP Journe, Vianney Halter, Denis Flageollet.
