The IWC Portugieser Chronograph Rattrapante was launched in 1995 and the split-seconds chronograph, typically a complex development, takes a unique approach here. Richard Habring, then working for a Schaffhausen-based manufacturer, devised a module called the Doppelchronograph, making this complication more accessible. The Calibre 76240, derived from the Valjoux 7760, incorporates this module, simplifying production and cost. Activating the rattrapante function involves pushing a button at 10 o'clock.
